How do I keep my account safe and secure?

Online security

  • Never leak your login information on a webpage that is not secure. The beginning of the misterb&b web address should start with https:// and there may also be a lock icon suggesting a secured website on your browser.
  • Always be careful when entering your password. When in doubt go to https://www.misterbandb.com instead of using the link in an unapproved email.
  • Only use payment and communication when the page is secured with misterb&b. We will not ask you to make payments anywhere else other than through our site.
  • Do not download anything, or click on any links that are not verified
  • Install a pop-up blocker from a company that is trustworthy, and be sure to install updates as soon as they become available

If you come across a profile or any other listing that looks a little suspicious be sure to flag it or let us know. Someone from our Trust & Safety team will investigate it further.

  • Change your passwords on a regular basis
  • Do not use the same password for all your accounts

Off-site payments and messages

misterb&b will never ask you to pay elsewhere. We ask that you keep all payments and communication on the misterb&b platform.

When you encounter an individual who tries to get you to communicate or pay outside of the misterb&b site, let us know right away as it may be spam, fraud, or even phishing. Do not share your email address or any other personal information outside of the misterb&b platform. Always look closely at the emails from misterb&b. Some examples of common scams are:

  • Advance Fee Scams: In this type of scam, a person is offered discounts if they are willing to transfer money through payment services outside of the safety of misterb&b platform.
  • Phishing Scam: This scam is where a person gets an email that looks like it is from misterb&b or a related site. The messages try to get you to send confidential information such as your user name or password. These emails contain malware which will invade your computer in order to get your personal information including passwords.
  • Travel Scam: This scam will offer you a deal that is too good to be true. You will have to send a payment using a wire transfer or advanced deposit. The only thing is you will get nothing in return, just a whole lot of money lost!
  • Overpayment Scam: This scam is when a fraudulent traveler offers to pay more money for booking your property than you asked for. The catch is that they ask you to send some of the cash back since they will not be staying.
